Workshop on “Alliance and Network Building”, 26-27 June 2014

The ZPSP supported the ZIPSET Secretary to attend a workshop on “Alliance and network building,” hosted by the West African Civil Society Institute (WACSI) in Accra, Ghana,with the aim of developing some of the necessary skills needed by the ZIPSET Network. The objectives of the workshop were to:

1)     Outline the conceptual framework for networks

2)     Identify processes of formalizing network governance structures

3)     Discuss how to effectively manage alliances and networks

4)     Draw action plans on networking and coalition building.

The training module covered the following content areas:

·       Defining networking, alliances and coalitions

·       Principles of networks and alliances

·       Establishing networks and alliances (methods and processes)

·       Formalizing governance structures of networks and alliances (key principles)

·       Resource mobilization

·       Benefits and disadvantages of networks

·       Leadership in networking and alliances

·       Sustaining and maintaining networks and alliances

·       Good management practices in networks

·       Conflict within alliances and networks

·       Decision making within networks and alliances

·       Action planning.
