On 28 November 2011, 11 local universities teaching and or interested in the teaching of peace, governance and security-related courses gathered together as a follow up on the previous Curriculum Development Workshop that was held on 2-4 November 2011.

The meeting deliberated on the establishment of a collaborative network for interested institutions and individuals. Participants recommended that membership to the network would be voluntary and members could join as either individuals and or institutions.

Most importantly, the network has been conceived as having no legal status and no representative capacity for member institutions & individuals. As a starting point, participants requested ZPSP to consider supporting an Executive Level SST Course for academics, which should seek to deepen their comprehension of the subject matter of SST and have a major particular focus on SST content including tools, methodologies and frameworks.

A capacity mapping exercise, exchange visits to neighboring countries and support for a couple of planning meetings in preparation for ZPSP’s next programme cycle were some of the immediate recommendations, among others. The network shared some of their thoughts on what their workplans would look like for the next 12 months starting in January 2012.
